Celebration 2003

Peace Plaza Celebration

International Day of Peace
Sunday, September 21
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

On September 21, 2003, the Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza celebrated an informal program commemorating the International Day of Peace and celebrating the diversity and cultural heritage of our community.

The weather was beautiful, as were the thoughts and feelings of the participants. Many groups participated, and we thank them all.

The International Day of Peace, established by a United Nations resolution in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the General Assembly, was first inaugurated on the third Tuesday of September, 1982. In 2002, the UN General Assembly set September 21 as the permanent date for the International Day of Peace.
